Pictures from a 5-minute film shoot about the Day of the Dead. The shoot happened on the 2nd week of December. The final product will be done in April of 2011. I used a Bolex for 16mm, with b&w film stock.
The indoor set(There were also some outdoor scenes in a forest clearing).
Sooo, here's the video that inspired the pictures in the Aphrodite Chronicles. Every time I would ask adults when I was a kid why there was war and violence, the answer I would get is that it was in our human nature to do so. But is it really in our nature to constantly fight each other, or is it simply tradition? And what do we get out of it? I tried to compress our "naturally human" struggle for power in 4 minutes, with the statues of the famous Aphrodite of Milos, The Thinker and The Discus Thrower.
In preparation for my final project, I went and had a photo shoot with the female actress for my video Human Nature. She's not in her full costume and does not have make-up on in these ones. I was inspired by the sculpture of Aphrodite(or Venus de Milo). I use what the goddess represents in Greek and Roman mythology to prove some points in my video.
